DELE Exams: yes or no?
Many students ask us this question. Is it really worth taking a DELE exam and getting the diploma?
The answer is straightforward: yes, and we’re going to explain why.
The DELE are official exams administered by the Instituto Cervantes. They are recognised internationally and do not expire. You can sit the exams at any of the six levels in the Common European Framework for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2).
What can you use the diploma for? Well, for example, to prove your level of Spanish when applying for a job or to take a Master’s at a Spanish university (most require a B2 diploma) and even when applying for Spanish citizenship (in this case the Government requires A2 level as a minimum).
What are the DELE exams like? This depends on the level you are taking, but they will definitely assess all the main language skills (comprehension, expression and interaction). So don’t think you’ll pass because you know your Spanish grammar: that is only one of the skill areas they evaluate.
But don’t worry. If you’ve decided to take the exam, sign up for one of our preparation courses. All our teachers are accredited DELE examiners and have lots of experience evaluating candidates. They will give you plenty of hints and tips to help you to exam success.
