Spanish Citizenship Test

CCSE

The CCSE exam (Spanish constitutional and socio-cultural knowledge test) is a test designed by the Instituto Cervantes which everyone who wants to apply for Spanish citizenship has to pass. The test contains 25 questions about various subjects including Spanish law, citizens’ rights and responsibilities, as well as Spanish geography, history and daily life. The test lasts 45 minutes.

When can I take the CCSE test?

There are test sessions on the last Thursday of every month, except in August and December. On each of these dates there are two exam sessions.

How much does it cost to take the CCSE test?

The cost of the test is 85 euros. The charge is the same wherever you take the test and must be paid directly to the Instituto Cervantes upon registration.

How do I register for the CCSE test?

You can sign up for the test on the Instituto Cervantes‘ official website.

How do I find out if I have passed the test?

Within 20 working days after taking the test results will be sent to the email address candidates provided when registering. All candidates can download an officially-recognized results certificate from their profile on the Instituto Cervantes’ website. There is no paper diploma for this test.
