The Torres de Serranos were labelled a National Heritage landmark (14th century) in 1931.

They were given this name as travellers from the mountain region used to enter through them; where a fee was paid in order to gain access to the city.

It served as a prison for noblemen for many centuries and during the Spanish Civil War, it provided a safe place for numerous works from Madrid´s Museo del Prado.

You can visit the landmark and enjoy views of Turia´s riverbed from the towers.
