Happy Thanksgiving 2009!
Nov 25

A Happy Thankgiving Day to all our readers from the US (and Happy Belated Thanksgiving to those from Canada). For those of you not familiar with one of North America’s most important and oldest national holidays, here are a few facts:
Thanksgiving is believed to have been first celebrated late sixteenth-century settlers to North America to celebrate the harvest and give thanks to God (now it is also considered to be a secular festival).
Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October and the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.
Traditionally, families gather together for a meal and eat turkey (for many this will be a dress-rehearsal for Christmas).
In New York City, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is televised nationally and is now a world-famous event.
