Valencia Tennis Open 500: 30 Oct – 7 Nov

Valencia City Open Tennis 500

This year, the Ágora at the City of Arts and Sciences will once again host the Valencia Tennis Open from Saturday 30 to Sunday 7 November.

Tickets are still available to see big name players such as Murray, Soderling, Verdasco and Ferrer.

As with last year, the area next to the Science Museum will be transformed into a “Funpark”, but this year it is promised to be significantly bigger and better.  Entrance is free and more than 175,000 tennis fans are expected to turn up to watch the games on the big screen and enjoy an entertainment programme.

Route 66 Idiomas Language School students interested in finding out more can visit the tournament website (available in English, Spanish and Valencian).

Formula 1 returns to Valencia

Formula 1 returns to the streets of Valencia this weekend!

While the two previous editions have been held in August, the 2010 F1 Valencia Street Circuit will host 3 days of racing from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 June. Hopefully the more pleasant temperatures will encourage lots of spectators to go down to Valencia’s renovated port area to enjoy the excitement and typical tyre-squealing.

If you aren’t sufficiently lucky or well-off to get a ticket to see any of the racing, you can still venture down to the port to check out the free events in the “Beach Park” area.

For the full racing timetable, maps and more information about what’s on, the Street Circuit official website is available in English, Spanish and Valencian.

Route 66 Idiomas language school students planning to go to the Valencia port area for the Formula 1 racing and events by public transport should check the EMT and Metrovalencia websites before leaving home. Strikes are planned for this weekend, but might get called off.

The bad news: all the tickets for the semi-finals and the finals of the Valencia Open 500 on the 7 and 8 November have already sold out.

The good news: those of us without the luck or money to get a ticket can watch the action free on a big screen that will be installed at the City of Arts and Sciences complex.

The tournament runs from the 31 October – 7 November and there’s plenty of international interest with players such as Andy Roddick (GB), Andy Roddick (USA) and 3 of Spain’s best players Ferrer, Ferrero and Verdasco all on the bill.
